Terms of service

These terms apply when a business signs up for and uses the Cerect app at app.cerect.com. In them, "we" and "us" means Cerect, and "you" means the business that signs up. The person who signs up confirms they are allowed to accept these terms for that business. Cerect is for businesses, not consumers.

1. The service

Cerect is online software for managing storage units and rental property: sites, units, tenants, enquiries, payments records, tasks and documents. We may improve and change the service over time. If we remove something important that you rely on, we'll tell you in advance.

2. Free trial

New businesses get a 14-day free trial with no card needed. At the end of the trial, you can choose a paid plan to carry on. If you don't, we may limit your account to read-only, and later close it, but we'll email you first and you can export your data before anything is removed.

3. Plans and payment

Our plans and prices are shown on our pricing page. Prices are no VAT to add. Plans are paid monthly or yearly in advance. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice of any price change, and it applies from your next billing period. If a payment fails and isn't sorted out after we've told you, we may limit your account to read-only until it is.

4. Your account

Keep your login details safe, and use two-factor sign-in, which Cerect asks every user to set up. You're responsible for the people you invite into your account and what they do there. Tell us straight away if you think someone has got into your account without permission.

5. Your data

The information you put into Cerect, including your tenants' and customers' details, belongs to you. You can export it at any time. You are the controller of personal data about your tenants and customers; we process it only on your instructions, to provide the service, and as UK data protection law requires of a processor. In particular we:

  • keep it confidential, and only let our staff see it when needed to support you (support access is read-only and recorded)
  • store it in the UK (London) and protect it with appropriate security measures
  • use only these providers to run the service: Supabase (database and file storage, London), Cloudflare (hosting) and Resend (sending emails)
  • help you respond to people's data requests, and tell you without undue delay about any security breach affecting your data
  • delete your data when your account closes, as described in section 8

Our privacy notice explains how we handle the details of the people who contact us or sign up.

6. Using Cerect properly

Don't use Cerect for anything unlawful, to send spam, to upload harmful software, or to try to get into other businesses' accounts or our systems. You must have the right to store the information you put in, including telling your tenants how you use their details. We may suspend an account that breaks these rules or puts other users at risk.

7. Availability and liability

We work hard to keep Cerect running and your data safe, but we can't promise the service will never be interrupted. Keep your own exports of anything you can't do without.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, we're not liable for lost profits, lost business or indirect losses, and our total liability in any 12 months is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, or £100 if more.

8. Ending your account

You can stop using Cerect at any time by contacting us. Paid plans run to the end of the period already paid for, and we don't refund part periods. When an account closes, you have 30 days to export your data, after which we delete it, apart from anything the law requires us to keep.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll email account owners at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you carry on using Cerect after that, the new terms apply.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts deal with any disputes.
